Friendship is the most cherished of all relationship. In fact they stand even above the familial relationship. Unlike in a familial relationship, friendships last till one of them breathes his or her last. The longer the bond the stronger they stay. In fact most successful men and women have used their friendship as the basis on which they built their business empire. Just as friendship inspires, the loss of one due to death can have a devastating effect on the survivor. Once that happens the survivors withdraws into a cocoon like life never to rebound again. Such is the hold of human bond that we call friendship.

?You can count on me like 1,2, 3 and I?ll be there?- The lyrics of the billboard hit song ?Count on me? by Bruno Mars. Very simple lyrics about friendship, but holds a deep meaning. Friends are not only for having a blast, hanging out, to laugh with you or cry with you and hold your hand throughout your life.

Friends are the one constant thing you can rely on for help anytime, all the time. They can even help you with studies. Research proves, that peer tutoring and counseling is one of the more, effective methods of studying. During group discussions, or study sessions, you get multiple ideas from your friends. They correct you when you?re wrong, teach you the right things all with much care and affection.

There are many people who are envious about their class mates or colleagues having ocean full of friends. They always wish to be in their shoes when these people go out with a group of friends and have fun by partying and boozing. What many don?t realize is that many groups of friends are just there to have fun.

But, when they have a problem or when they want to talk to someone there are chances for them to not have anyone around them. Friendship should be sized with quality and not quantity. Even if someone has two friends, they should be someone who understand them completely and stand by them through ups and downs.

How friends can help you in starting a new business? Can you run a successful business along with your friend? Yes, it is possible. The best example for this is Infosys. It?s the hard work and creativity of a group of friends that became a successful business. Like this, many companies begin simply because close friends thought of a great business idea and went for it. Your friendship and business can both thrive when you keep a few of these things in mind. First we have known the strength and weakness of ourselves and our friends. Then assign jobs accordingly. I am sure it will be a huge success.

The necessity of a friend in day to day life is very important. Take any case, if you are late for work, you could always ask to drop you. In times of need, like you need any financial assistance or any help at work, you could always count on your friend. Even if you need any advice in your relationship and love life, your friend will be the first person to give you one. Seriously, in case you are down in life and going through tough times, the person who will inspire and help is none other than your friend. In today?s world, you cannot live without a friend as they are the inspirers and motivators.

Care A Calling At End Of Life - Chicago News Cooperative

Sometimes, in the wings of life?s final act, are those who help the dying exit the stage with a bit more ease.

Last February, Ellen Goode moved her mother, Frances Livermore, from her nursing home in Niles into Goode?s living room in Rogers Park. Mini-strokes and Parkinson?s disease had left Livermore paralyzed and bedridden. Her ailments, which included glaucoma and chronic infections, required two hands to tally.

Surely she could give her mother better care, Goode thought. After seeing what she had gone through during her three years in nursing homes?constant dehydration, skin lesions?she knew if she became the primary caregiver it would be her mother?s best option for a longer life and a more peaceful death.

?There were things I didn?t need to make a decision about. They were just what I had to do,? said Goode, 43. So she joined the 25 percent of U.S. households that provide care to older family members and friends, according to the Illinois Department of Aging.

But Goode soon began to worry that lengthening her mother?s life by becoming her caregiver was not what Livermore wanted.

A few weeks after bringing her mother home, Goode leaned in close to her and asked, ?Mom, do you want to die??

?No,? Livermore replied.

?Why?? Goode said.

?Because I like life,? her mother replied.

?Why? Because of potato chips, Elmer, chocolate drinks?? she said, referring to her mother?s favorite foods and her favorite caregiving aide, Elmer.

?Any other reasons?? Goode pressed.

?That?s enough,? Livermore replied.

And so Goode carried on. She followed the seven-times-daily medication schedule, changed the diapers, and administered the herbs, supplements, and ointments. She juggled the five part-time health aides who came around the clock. She paid up to $1,000 a month to cover the costs that Medicare and Social Security did not, putting her more more than $8,000 in debt.

Livermore?s doctors say Goode?s care extended her mother?s life by a year or more.

But it cost her more than money and time. Goode had to put aside her own life. She tried not to focus on what she had lost or given up while caring for her mother: her partner of 13 years, sleep, making music, taking her motorboat out on the lake, as well as a significant portion of her work as a psychotherapist and addictions counselor.

Even her health was put on the back burner. She was getting sick more often and never felt rested. ?I had stress exhaustion, I was overwhelmed,? Goode said.

Last Christmas Eve, Goode spoke to her mother candidly. ?I can?t do this for much longer because I am broken,? she said. ?Somewhere here you have to let me go.?

A few days before the end of January, Livermore, 88, slipped into a coma. Her breathing was slow, each breath seemingly farther from the last. Her mother?s face, with a faint smile, pointed toward the ceiling.

?Have fun up there,? Goode said to her. ?Wherever you?re going, it looks really good.?

?Maybe it?s got chestnuts wrapped in bacon. She loved those,? said Cynthia Orszula, Livermore?s other daughter and Goode?s sister, who had driven in from Bristol, Wis. to be at her bedside.

?And deviled eggs,? Goode added, laughing.

On Jan. 31, nearly a year after her daughter brought her home, Livermore died. Before her body was picked up, Goode combed her silver hair.

?She heard me,? Goode said, recalling their conversation on Christmas Eve. ?Her final act of loving me was letting me go.?

Where Goode goes from here, putting the pieces of her life back together, is in some ways more uncharted than navigating her mother?s death.

For a few days after Livermore?s death, Goode still slept in the living room on the couch she had converted to a bed to be closer to her mother.

Gradually, she began spending more of the night in her own bed. But weeks later the medication lists were still posted. Everything Livermore needed was on hand: the ointments, baby wipes, pillboxes. On her mother?s empty bed, among stuffed animals, oxygen tubes and fleece blankets was a white cardboard box?Livermore?s ashes. Much and nothing had changed.

Goode began sorting though cupboards and reorganizing what had become less her home and more a hospital ward. She came across her mother?s glass mixing bowls. Tears welled up as she ran her hands over them. ?All these things become so much more precious,? she said.

Leaning against the counter, she stopped sorting and looked down at the floor.

?Every step, it?s like, there is this feeling right here.? She pointed to her heart. ?This has changed me forever and what is it for me now? Where does it need to go? What do I do with it??

A class action lawsuit filed by owners of faulty Sammy TVs has finally reached a settlement. The manufacturer has promised to foot the bill for new repairs, reimburse for previous repairs and hand out up to $300 to customers who no longer possess their broken TVs but can prove they once did. The fault can affects any of the models listed above -- possibly up to seven million sets in total -- and centers on an errant capacitor in the power circuit that stops the TV turning on, makes it slow to turn on, produces a "clicking sound" or makes it cycle on and off. Internationally, cycling is o popular that tens of millions of fans turn out for live events in dozens of countries every year. At the pinnacle of professional performance, cycling is an incredibly demanding sport ? the kind of intense, unforgiving competition that Nissan believes people will further embrace over time.

Nissan North America is stepping up a previous involvement in the professional cycling circuit to become co-title sponsor of an international team of 30 professional riders. Among them is American Chris Horner who won the Tour of California event last year, the marquee U.S. cycling event. Horner is again a favorite in 2012. Two million spectators turned out for last year?s week-long race from the San Francisco Bay area to Los Angeles.

?It?s a dramatic example of the increasing popularity of the sport in America, and of why Nissan is involved,? says Carolin. ?The coverage that television is giving to the sport ? we?re seeing viewing figures on TV increasing.?

Carolin also said it?s clear that cycling is becoming more popular as a way to keep fit, and as an alternative means of transportation in an age of energy awareness. It?s also a good fit for a corporation that has consistently demonstrated its interest in environmental issues, along with health and fitness. Nissan has previously sponsored these themes in other sporting events such as the New York and Boston Marathons.

Carolin believes RADIOSHACK NISSAN TREK will build on last year?s success in California and in other U.S. races, including an increasingly important new race in Colorado, as well internationally.

?Of course, the blue ribbon event globally is the Tour ?de France, and you know we have some of the best riders,? said Carolin. ?You know it is truly a super team.?

Along with Horner, top team riders include the Schleck brothers (Andy and Frank) of Luxemburg, and Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara, team captain in the Spring Classics.

?His nickname is Spartacus?, said Carolin, speaking more as a race fan than as a marketing executive. ?I mean this guy is awesome.?

In addition to Nissan?s sponsorship and international marketing opportunities, local Nissan dealerships will participate in events in their region. Meanwhile, the team itself is quite literally gearing up, training on the Mediterranean island of Mallorca. RADIOSHACK NISSAN TREK is already off to a fast start, with an impressive performance at the season opening Tour Down Under in Australia.

Across a race season that stretches into next fall, team riders will sometimes be simultaneously competing in events on different continents. Nissan will be supporting them ? and be very visible ? at every stage along the way.

It's All About Your Mindset | Business Networking | Dr. Ivan Misner

TR Garland (pictured with me in the photo below) is a friend of mine and co-author of one of my most recent #1 best-selling books called ?Building The Ultimate Network.?? He?s also considered a top trainer for the Referral Institute.?

For some time now, we?ve both observed a need to drill down on one of the most important and foundational concepts to networking ? The VCP Process?.? Today begins the much-anticipated 12-part monthly series of blog posts which address this and contain some very timely information for networkers across the globe.? TR and I hope you?ll enjoy the series as much as we enjoyed putting it together.

IT?S ALL ABOUT YOUR MINDSET
(Part 1 of 12 of the ?Navigating the VCP Process? to Networking? Series)

Leverage.

Let?s restate that word again out loud because it is the essence of why leading sales professionals and small business owners invest their valuable time in Business Networking activities.

Leverage.

We think that probably the best representation of ?leverage? as it relates to the topic at hand is J. Paul Getty?s famous quote, ?I?d rather have one percent of the efforts of 100 people than 100 percent of my own efforts.?

You see, the difference between the success or failure of someone who is networking as a way of generating revenue is most likely what their perspective of ?networking? is.

Story after story is reported to us about people who believe that if they cease going to networking meetings and mixers every single week that their revenue will STOP.? Their perspective is that if they do not maintain a high activity of mixing and mingling with new people that they aren?t ?networking.?? The truth is that their personal definition of Business Networking appears to be skewed.

Their own description of activities that THEY are performing sounds a lot like selling, doesn?t it?

At its core, Business Networking is ?selling through your network, NOT to your network.?? Applying the foundational basics includes building relationships first, amassing trust and credibility in time, and then asking for referrals.? Don?t expect your network to buy from you.? If they do, that?s a bonus ? but don?t plan on it or even try to encourage it.? It might actually backfire.

We see it all the time.? People are attracted to the size of the event (i.e., your city or county?s biggest mixer) or the size of the weekly group such as a local BNI Chapter.? These individuals are most likely sales people looking for a Buyer?s Club to help them achieve their quota ? nothing more.? Once they pitch their network and a small percentage of people buy from them, they consider that group or network tapped out.? In this instance, you?ll hear these individuals murmuring, ?Oh, that networking group isn?t a good one.? I tried it out for 3-4 months, but they don?t pass any referrals.?? They then move on to another networking group and repeat the same self-centered activities (i.e., the rinse and repeat).

Once another 3-4 months rolls by again and they tap out that small percentage of kind souls that purchase from them, it?s back on the meandering trail to wander around and find that next networking group?and the next?and the next.? This is why we?d like to introduce the moniker The Networking Nomad? ? as it fits this type of person and their behavior.

Remember, Business Networking is more about ?farming? than it is about ?hunting.?? It takes time to cultivate relationships.? But once you dedicate the effort, we believe these relationships ultimately allow you to ?harvest? referrals for a lifetime.

In closing, we?d like to recommend that you consider reflecting back upon your own networking journey and ask yourself:? ?Has my definition of Business Networking evolved through the years?? If so, what events or insights from others influenced this evolution??

Whitney Houston's Funeral: Watch It Here

NEWARK, New Jersey — With her music, Whitney Houston brought joy to the lives of her family, friends and fans, so it is only right that exactly one week after her death, on the day of her funeral, all the love Whitney gave is given right back.

Fans lined the streets of Newark, New Jersey, in hopes of getting as close as they could to the New Hope Baptist Church, where the funeral for Houston, who was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel on February 11, is being held. It is the same church the pop diva grew up attending and where she built a loving fanbase even as a youngster with her powerful church choir vocals.

"Everybody, I want them to know that God sent us an angel, and now his angel has gone back home to rest and sing in heaven," Patricia Copeland Williams, a Houston family friend, told MTV News on Friday upon leaving the pop star's wake at New Hope Baptist. "We will always love her and we'll always remember, and we're never going to forgot Cissy, the woman that birthed her."

The Houston funeral is a private affair and only invited guests are allowed into the church and the surrounding city blocks. Before the ceremony, fans gathered outside of police barricades on the corner of Orange and Nesbitt streets, about four blocks from the church, singing Houston's hits including "Greatest Love of All" and "I Will Always Love You." Media outlets lined the block on the corner of Lock Street and Essex Avenue, but without an invite, that was about as close as anybody would get.

Musical luminaries and close friends Clive Davis, Stevie Wonder and CeCe Winans are all expected to attend. Kevin Costner, who starred with Houston in the 1992 hit film "The Bodyguard" and ex-husband Bobby Brown are also among the expected attendees.

Aretha Franklin, who is Whitney's close family friend, had been scheduled to sing "I Will Always Love You" at the service but canceled due to illness, according to CNN. Franklin performed in Whitney's honor Friday night at Radio City Music Hall.

Few elements of the budget are expected to win approval this year in a divided U.S. Congress as elections approach in November. Republicans view the budget as a campaign document, and Obama supporters also see it as an important tool for him to communicate his spending priorities to voters.

Republicans criticized Obama's budget, saying it chooses winners and losers and moves away from tax reform.

For example, Obama wants to end a manufacturing tax break for oil and gas companies, but expand it for high-tech companies. "Obviously not everyone is going to be playing by the same set of rules," Republican Senator Jon Kyl of Arizona said.

Geithner said it was a "fair question."

He said the Obama plan would "wipe out a very substantial, dozens and dozens of special tax preferences," in the corporate code, but keep a "very limited" number targeting incentives for "creating and building stuff in the United States."

Republican Representative Dave Camp, the chairman of the U.S. House of Representatives' tax-law writing Ways and Means committee, has set a goal of trimming the top 35 percent corporate rate to 25 percent.

Senators from both parties said Obama needs to use the bully pulpit to push major changes to the tax code.

The last time major rewrite of the U.S. tax code came in 1986 under Republican President Ronald Reagan.

"The key in 1986 was of course the presidential bully pulpit and that the executive branch every single time out talked about how you had to fit the pieces together," Democratic Senator Ron Wyden said.

Obama said earlier he was "hopeful" of a deal on extending a 2 percentage point cut in the payroll tax paid by workers, which will expire at the end of the month without a deal between sparring lawmakers.

The payroll tax extension is the first among many deadlines approaching in coming months that could hamper the fragile economic recovery.

"That would damage economic growth," Geithner said.
